Judas Arrieta is a known Spanish contemporary artist. He does paintings, drawings, sculptures, wallpaints, video art and installations. His work is effected by Japanese cartoon art, Asian oriental culture and a European way of understanding contemporary art. He combines his influences and uses his unique art language to produce many kinds of different art works. Arrieta’s mission is producing art pieces directly related with new ways of understanding art. With his newest projects he tries approaching the audience in a playful and joyful way, using blow up sculptures, wall paintings and toy art pieces. For Arrieta, art must create nice experiences in people.

His art works are collected by museums, enterprises and banks, like Guggenheim Bilbao museum, Asia House of Barcelona, the Spanish embassy in Japan, CajaMadrid and others. They are also widely shown around the world, in countries such as Spain, USA, Finland, Japan, Korea and China. He won a few important art prizes, including the International Young Artist Contest of Spain (Cajamadrid “Generación 2006″) held by Madrid Bank in 2006. He also does TV programs and conferences about the relationship of contemporary art and popular cultures, manga, anime and Asian cultures.

In 2007 Judas Arrieta opened MA Studio, China’s first residency program dedicated mostly to Spanish artists. From this time until now more than 20 artists from Spain and other countries have exhibited there as well as taken part in external exhibitions organized by Arrieta. Through MA Studio he also regularly publishes books and catalogues.
